DAYBREAK

but i'm still hanging onto that promise ... waiting for that fateful day ...

This glow from a faraway horizon - the sunrise if you will - the radiance that knows no boundaries as it crosses vast landscapes, indiscriminately bathing everything it touches with a warm, golden luminosity. The shadows of doubt cower away and a new hope is reborn.

FrozenHourglass.net was registered on May 22, 2008 as a birthday present to myself with Namecheap.com. At last, my dream of owning my own domain was a reality and to celebrate that, I decided to purchase paid hosting on the same day. So, currently, this domain is being hosted by Holdfire and I hope to be able to stay with them for a long time.

The name Frozen Hourglass was something that I thought of roughly 3 years ago (I can't remember...). I thought the imagery that came to mind captured something beautiful: time - symbolized with running sand - suspended in a beautiful frozen landscape. That's how the name was born and I've been in love with it all this time.

The header and footer feature two beautiful scenes in the movie 5 Centimeters Per Second. I wanted to create something dreamy yet generic about how time both forgives and forgets everything and the images from this movie were just begging to be put into a design. I hope to give a surreal feel about how no matter how long one waits, the day cycles forward until that fated day comes again.

I am very pleased with how this layout turned out and it also contains several milestones for me. This design is the first one in a long, long time that I've put so much hard work and thought into to make athesithically pleasing. Also, it features minimal PHP (a start for someone who's self-teaching) and minimal style code in the webpages with maximum exploitation of CSS. Finally, for the first time ever, it is fine-tuned for perfect display in both Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox. That's right ladies and gentlemen, hours of tweaking around made this design compatible with both browsers - so, no more complaints about the browser wars. I think it's important the web designers maximize their site exposure to the largest audience they can get, even though I will openly admit that I'm an IE user, bite me, Firefox.

Basic specifications include this layout being designed in Adobe Photoshop CS3 and put together with regular raw Notepad coding. It is best viewed with a 1024x768 resolution (although 800x600 or anything higher looks fine as well) and 32-bit colour computer complimented with either Internet Explorer 7.0+ or Mozilla Firefox 2.0+ web browser.

× history

Frozen Hourglass first opened to the public on April 5, 2008, even though the planning for this site along with many scratched beta versions extended back at least 2 years. Yup, the procrastination of a perfectionist! The site was hosted by Byethost with plans to register for a domain in the near future.
